Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport car rental information

There are four car hire providers at Robin Hood Doncaster airport so you should have no difficulty in obtaining the car you require, with vehicles including small, large, family and luxury estate cars. 7 and 9-seater people carriers may be available, and also minibus hire and vans although it is vital to check and reserve in advance if you require one of these special (in terms of rental) vehicle types.

You are best reserving your car in advance to ensure you can obtain the model you require, and it also means you can complete most of the paperwork before you arrive. All you need is your driver’s licence, secondary ID and credit or debit card. When you complete the booking, and before you sign on the dotted line, ensure you understand everything about your rental and double check the conditions and stipulations of your rental contract. Also, if you are unsure of how anything in the car operates, ask the rental representative before you drive off – dials, knobs and lever might operate somewhat differently to what you are used to!

If the cost seems higher that you expected, this may be for some of the non-optional extras, such as young driver daily insurance surcharge or airport charges that are outside the control of the rental operator. Your representative will be only too pleased to help clarify any issues you may have.

Doncaster is one of the UK newest international airports, so when you drive away, the immediate roads are quite rural. However, be ready for roundabouts (the UK sees right of way given to drivers on the roundabout, and they drive clockwise), and the sudden increase in traffic as you approach Doncaster town itself. Speed limits are in miles per hour.

Also, being at the centre of the motorway network, remember that you join the motorway from the left, and the rules of the road demand you use the right hand lanes of the carriageway for overtaking only, driving in the left-most lane at all times.
