Insurance is explained as you proceed through the booking engine - with specific details applied to specific vehicles - a general guide of what can be expected to be included is detailed below and explanation of various terms.
STANDARD CAR HIRE INSURANCE COVER
As standard, all rentals come with third party insurance cover which Indemnifies authorised driver(s) and meets minimum UK legal requirements for third party liability.
COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER
You can drive with peace of mind that you will not need to pay for the full cost of the vehicle in the event of damage. Damage caused to the vehicle hitting a bridge, car park barrier or other overhead object or damage caused by driver/ renter negligence is not covered. The CDW will come with an excess or deductible, of the first amount of any damage caused. This amount depends on the type of vehicle, but is normally £500 but can be up to £1000 or more. This means should you damage the rental vehicle you are responsible for this amount of damage.
Example: should you cause £300 of damage you will be charged the full £300 but if you caused £3000 damage then you part of the damage would be limited to £500 if the excess was £500.
THEFT WAIVER
Theft Waiver is included in the rental rate. This reduces the renter's liability from the total cost of the theft, attempted theft or damage as a result of theft or attempted theft (up to the value of the vehicle and including off the road and recovery costs) to the excess amount.
EXTRA INSURANCE
Additional CDW (collision damage waiver) will be offered to you at the time of collection. This extra cover is optional and you can either reduce the excess amount or make it zero.
Extra Insurance is paid in addition to any rental quotation obtained from our website and is paid locally to the branch that you collect your car from. The charges may be different with each company but will be clearly outlined.
